ABOUT
MARISA BYERS-MCNAMARA:
Compassionate Mental Health Counseling in Wichita Falls, TX
Taking the leap to begin therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I cherish the opportunity to assist individuals in finding healing and hope through counseling. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients can heal and thrive.
My Backround
With over 24 years of experience in various settings including private practice, educational settings, and nursing homes, I am dedicated to providing expert mental health support for individuals of all ages. I specialize in treating children's behavioral problems, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, self-esteem challenges, anger management, and trauma recovery, including narcissistic abuse and toxic relationship trauma.
Born and raised in Central Texas, I spent 14 years working across eleven school districts, providing therapy for at-risk youth and students with severe emotional disturbances. As a behavior specialist, I developed individualized intervention plans, advocated for students in special education (ARD) meetings & gave presentations in the community to help parents regarding various childhood disorders. Helping children & families who are struggling is near & dear to my heart!

While living in Central Texas, I also taught psychology classes at Tarleton State University and Baylor University, instructing courses in Behavior Modification, Abnormal Psychology, and Psychological Testing & Measurement.
Since relocating to North Texas & opening my practice in 2020, I have obtained specialized certifications in treating clients with personality disorders and survivors of emotional & narcissistic abuse. My dedication to this work is both professional and personal. Having experienced the complexities of narcissistic relationships firsthand, I understand the profound impact it can have on an individual's emotional and physical well-being. This perspective allows me to approach therapy with both clinical expertise and genuine empathy and understanding, providing a safe and validating space for healing and growth.
Beyond the Office
When I am not in session, I love being outdoors—hunting, fishing, and training barrel racing horses for rodeo competition. However, my greatest joy is spending time with my 12-year-old son, Barron and supporting him in all his activities.

I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey to healing and self-discovery. Whether you are seeking support for yourself or a loved one, know that you are not alone. Together, we can work toward growth, resilience, and a brighter future.

If you're ready to take the first step, I invite you to reach out—I look forward to connecting with you.
